Doha held one of the most important fashion events in the Arab world, The Fashion Trust Arabia. Many important fashion stars and personalities all over the world were present at the event.
If you missed the highlights and the winners of the Fashion Trust Arabia 2022, we’re about to spill the tea!
The Fashion Trust Arabia, is a non-profit initiative created by Lebanese-born entrepreneur Tania Fares, and supported by the royal family of Qatar. It has been celebrating the work of Arab designers from North Africa and the Middle East since 2018 under the patronage of Her Highness, Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser and HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa Bint Hamad Al-Thani.
According to the official site of Fashion Trust Arabia, the initiative is “a prize to support up-and-coming fashion designers from the Middle East and North Africa region, Fashion Trust Arabia has expanded into FTA Pulse, the first online platform to exclusively highlight Arab creatives.” It is also important to mention that the Fashion Trust Arabia is also acting on an educational mission, and it is tutoring young talents that are aiming to leave a mark in the Fashion industry.
Fashion Trust Arabia is also acting as a bridge between the different sectors of the Fashion world, such as designers and retailers to make the industry richer, and to develop the ties and partnerships of the Arab Fashion World.
This year’s jury included Ruba Abu-Nimah, who is the Creative Director at Tiffany & Co, designers; Yoon Ahn, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, who is the Artistic Director at Oscar de la Renta. Guram Gvasalia, who founded Vetements and finally, footwear designers Amina Muaddi and Olivier Rousteing.
A total of six categories were set up by the Fashion Trust Arabia, allowing six talents from the Arab fashion world to be rewarded during the awards evening, after the panel had settled on the 23 finalists.
Here is the list of all the winners of the Fashion Trust Arabia 2022:
- Saudi sisters Siham and Sarah Albinali won the ‘Ready-to-wear’ category with their brand Lurline
- Moroccan designer, Artsi Ifrach of Maison ARTC was awarded for his evening wear
- Egyptian designer, Fatima Mostafa won the ‘Jewellery Designer’ award
- Sudanese-American, Eilaf Osman received the award for best accessories designer
- Yemeni, Kazna Asker won the Franca Sozzani First Talent Award
- Turkey was the guest nation of this edition, and designer Burç Akyol won the First Prize
Bella Hadid and her father Mohamed Hadid, Huda Kattan, Naomi Campbell, Balqees, Janet Jackson, Neslihan Atagul, Yasmine Sabri and Zuhair Murad – were just some of the celebrities and influencers that attended the event.
All the personalities came to notice and support all the designers and creators that took part in this initiative. It was also the occasion to admire the work of the talents of today and to notice the beginning of the work of tomorrow for the Arab fashion industry.
